Amy Adams Coming to ATX Television Fest

By Richard Whittaker, April 18, 2018, 2:00pm, Picture in Picture

ATX Television Festival scored big when it announced the premiere of HBO's adaptation of Sharp Objects, the latest onscreen conversion of a work by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl). Now the star/executive producer, five-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams, has booked her ticket and will be flying to Austin for the opening night screening.

She's not coming alone: aside from Flynn, she'll be joined by director/executive producer Jean-Marc Vallée, showrunner/executive producer Marti Noxon, and the irrepressible Jason Blum, head of Blumhouse and responsible for a big chunk of your favorite horror films, plus (with Whiplash and Get Out) no stranger to Oscars himself.

Also added to the lineup today:

Grey's Anatomy, the show that made Shonda Rhimes a household name, gets its second spin-off with Station 19. Catch the premiere episode, plus a Q&A panel with cast members Jaina Lee Ortiz and Jason George; creator and executive producer Stacy McKee (Grey’s Anatomy); and casting director Linda Lowy.

• National Geographic will host a panel about season 2 of its Emmy-nominated series Genius: season 1 centered on Albert Einstein, and season 2, debuting April 24, will move its gaze to another leviathan of the early 20th century, Pablo Picasso. The discussion will include showrunner/director Ken Biller, and the production team responsible for re-creating the look of the era (Davina LaMont, hair and makeup designer; Sonu Mishra, costume designer; Mathias Herndl, cinematographer and director; and Arv Greywal, production designer).

Six Days of the Condor update Condor made its Austin debut at SXSW, and now the AT&T Audience Network show returns for ATX, with a panel featuring cast members Leem Lubany, Katherine Cunningham, Kristen Hager, and Kristoffer Polaha, plus director/producer Lawrence Trilling.

• And would it be ATX without Younger? Cast and crew of the TV Land institution will be back for a fourth year, with a sneak peek screening at season 5.

ATX Television Festival runs June 8-10. For more info and announcements, see our ATX TV page.
