One in a Crowd: Quaker Oaths

By Josh Kupecki, November 21, 2015, 2:40pm, Picture in Picture

In a Quaker wedding, every guest signs the marriage certificate, a tradition that signifies the bond of community. But what happens when that marriage fails? In Quaker Oaths, it means the couple must track down every person from the wedding to get them to cross their name off the list so they can make the divorce official.

Austin-based filmmaker Louisiana "Lucy" Kreutz is known for her documentaries ("Jungle Fish," 61 Bullets) and her collaborations with Bradley Beesley (Sweethearts of the Prison Rodeo). Now, she's branching out into narrative feature territory with this offbeat comedy about Joe (Alex Dobrenko) and Emily (Fede Rangel) and their odyssey to end their marriage. The film had a successful run on Kickstarter, with the initial $10,000 goal being reached. Now Kreutz and Co. are seeking a stretch goal of an additional $5,000 to go toward music licensing and festival travel, among other things. With only three days left to go, they're still around four grand shy. So, check out the pitch below, and help a local filmmaker out here.
