No Myth: SXSW Interactive Announces Another Keynote

'Mythbusters' co-host Adam Savage will deliver address March 10

No Myth: SXSW Interactive Announces Another Keynote

Geeks, gadget-heads, and this country’s most gullible, rejoice: South by Southwest Interactive announced its second keynote speaker this morning. His likeness should suit the interest of you three.

Adam Savage, bespectacled genius, “obsessive maker of things,” and co-host of Discovery Channel’s long-running Mythbusters program, has been tabbed as the conference’s first keynote. SXSW Interactive’s Hugh Forrest indicated in a blog post today that Savage, who will speak on Monday, March 10, will “share his inspirational insights on the scientific method and creativity.”

Savage has spent the past 11 years busting through your TV screens alongside co-host and boastful beret-bearer Jamie Hyneman, who either didn’t get the SXSW invite or is strictly unavailable. Their show’s taught a lot of people a whole lot of things, clearing up a whole lot of trinket- and science-related confusion in the process.

One time, Savage and Hyneman taught us that adding salt to ice and cool water will actually bring the freezing point of water down below 32 degrees, thus allowing the beers housed within our coolers to get colder in the process. For that, we’re grateful, and looking forward to what he’s got to say in Austin.

SXSW Interactive runs March 7-11, and no, this news is not a myth.

Correction: The original version of this article stated Savage was SXSW Interactive's first keynote speaker; that title goes to Austin Kleon.
