Look, we know it's supposed to be gorgeous all weekend and you'd probably rather be outside than inside a dark movie theatre, but listen up.
Maybe you're pale like me, and therefore easily sunburnt. Maybe you already overdid it at Barton Springs today and need a little reprieve before heading back out there. Maybe "outdoorsy" just isn't in your vocabulary, or you're trying to protect your hands for that big gig next week and can't go all-out rock climbing this weekend.
Whatever your excuse, here's your out. The Whole Earth Provision Co. is bringing "international short films and documentaries on outdoor adventure and exploration" to Austin. These films all showed at the Banff Mountain Film Festival, but now they're stateside in two special events.
Saturday brings the Radical Reels Tour, a showcase of action-packed sports docs that'll get your adrenaline pumping. On Sunday, you can treat yourself to a staycation with the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, which takes you to exotic locales from the comfort of a cushy seat at the Paramount.
And the best part? All proceeds benefit Texas State Parks, which is the next best thing to patronizing them yourself.
The Radical Reels Tour and the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour happen Saturday-Sunday, April 13-14, at the Paramount Theatre. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.austintheatre.org.
