By Kimberley Jones, 3:30PM, Tue. Nov. 27, 2012
Austin was well-represented among the 28th annual Film Independent Spirit Award nominations, which were announced today.
Bernie was nominated twice, for Best Feature and Male Lead (Jack Black), while Bernie costar Matthew McConaughey picked up two nominations for his stellar work in two other 2012 releases, Magic Mike and Killer Joe. Austin native Elizabeth Mims was tapped, along with her Only the Young codirector Jason Tippet, as a finalist for the Truer Than Fiction Award, which comes with a $25,000 grant. And David Gordon Green's Prince Avalanche, which shot in Bastrop, scored a producing award nod for Derrick Tseng.
See below for the complete nominee list. The awards ceremony will screen Saturday, Feb. 23 on IFC.
