'America's Parking Lot' screening benefits Capital Area Food Bank

The Austin Film Society and Texas Independent Film Network will host a Tuesday night screening of America's Parking Lot, a labor of love documentary that explores the demise of tailgating culture among working-class Dallas Cowboys fans.
Director Jonny Mars will be on hand for a Q&A at the screening, which takes place Tuesday, Nov. 13, 7pm at the Violet Crown Cinema. The screening will benefit the Capital Area Food Bank, and if you bring an unopened, non-perishable food item, the VCC will reward you with free popcorn.
Chronicle Sports editor Mark Fagan spoke with Mars just before the film's world premiere in March at the South by Southwest Film Festival about his "urgent need to document" the last days of the Gate 6 Tailgaters and the edging out of working-class fans when the Cowboys moved stadiums; you can read that interview here.
