Cannes You Dig It?
Less sleeping, more partying

Still alive! Vive la France.
Before I left for Cannes last week with my fellow "Clowns Never Lie" filmmakers, the plan – or at least what I promised my editor – was to send a new post every night, recapping the day’s events and whatnot.Ha! Boy, was that an ambitious thought. Who can find the time to blog when you’re up all night partying with Adrien Brody?
Okay, maybe we didn’t party “with” Adrien Brody – more like, “within the general vicinity of.” But we have been making appearances at all the most exclusive parties. How? Well, when you pretend to be just as important as Adrien Brody, you’ll find that your name will always be on the list to get in. That’s a picture of him at The Carlton, hotel to the stars.
Did I mention we also partied with a real-life princess?
Part-time actress and Thai royalty Ubolratana Rajakanya was in town for an event at the Carlton showcasing Thailand’s cinema and talent.
Pictured: a supermodel, a rapper, a producer, and some of Thailand’s star actors. I’m not good with names.
But I am good with scoring free food and drinky!
Apparently the super-rich love free food, too. I’ve never seen so many ritzy-looking women and men fight their way to the buffet. We’re talking old women throwing elbows just to get their hands on some fancy noodles.
The next day, we kept noshing and crashing parties, including one held by the British Film Institute.
Wait, who’s that Irish cop in Bridesmaids who keeps pulling over Kristen Wiig just to hit on her? [Editor’s note: It’s Chris O’Dowd.] He’s got a movie playing at the festival called The Sapphires, about an Australian Aboriginal girl group in the Sixties. Harvey Weinstein picked it up for distribution. That’s Harvey at the mic.
I pretended to walk into the party with Dane DeHaan, who was one of my favorite things about Lawless, the new bootlegger film from the same guy who made The Road.
I eventually met DeHaan later and told him how much I loved his role in this crazy bloodbath of a movie. He’s a cool dude.
Maybe not quite as cool as these dudes, though…
