The free and community-oriented arm of SXSW Interactive is moving from the SXSW home base across the river to the Palmer Events Center. We hope that they treat the SXSW Screenburn Arcade well and not like the step-child you only say you love as much as your real children (the real children are SXSW events at the convention center in case you lost the metaphor).
The Screenburn Arcade always sounded great in theory, with free games and booths that are open to the public. In practice, the Arcade never felt fully realized and didn't live up to the dream of a free gaming mini-fest.
Will Interactive badge-holders make it over the bridge to check out the games? Do Austin gamers really care? Hopefully this move is an indicator that the Arcade will not only draw people in but bring enough to the table to keep people there. If nothing else, the parking situation will be greatly improved.
