Mondo T's debuts Director's Series with Guillermo del Toro

Mondo, the Alamo Drafthouse's recently redesigned/rebranded "collectible art boutique," has announced the debut of the Mondo "Director's Series" of original, hand-screened, seriously stunning film posters. Director numero uno? None other than Alamo fan and favorite Guillermo del Toro. Face it: we're gonna need a bigger wall.

Del Toro's long been a supporter of the Drafthouse, showing up years ago for 409 Colorado screenings of Phantom of the Paradise and countless other fantastic film events. In the interim, the former "Mondo-T's" -- which was birthed in a cramped alcove barely large enough for a single employee and the company's industrial iron-on machine -- relocated to Alamo South Lamar and began to focus less on (admittedly cool; we have a closet-full of 'em) retro iron-on T-shirts and more on original film poster art by the likes of Rob Jones, Rich Kelly, and Tom Whalen. The end result has been a veritable smorgasbord of one-of-a-kind, four-color masterpieces.

"It is a rare privilege to be included in this mind-blowing poster series," said del Toro via Fons PR. " These images enshrine and preserve the energy of the films they depict in a way that no square marketing could!!! More power to them!!!"

Added Mondo Creative Director Justin Ishmael, “Whether producing or directing, the Alamo Drafthouse & Mondo look forward to each Guillermo del Toro film as the name carries that rare seal of quality. We are deeply honored to have him be a part of our first Director’s Series.”

We repeat: bigger walls, por favor.
