Austin is among the five cities nominated as a Do Something City in VH1's 2010 Do Something Awards:
Here's the official nomination text about our fair city:
Austin, Texas is the new frontier for young Americans because of its wealth of new business opportunities, Austin is also leading the nation in car sharing programs and encourages biking as a primary form of transportation.Boston, Greensburg, Kansas; Portland, and Salt Lake City (?!) are also nominated. Personally, I think I'd have to lean toward Greensburg. Devastated by a tornado, the city has come back, rebuilding with green initiatives, leading the way making a liveable, sustainable city, pleasant, and healthy for all. That, and I'm a Midwesterner. Yeah, I know – Yankee, Go Home. But hey, I think Austin earns some props for leading the way with our car share programs. All two. But that's TWO more than anyplace else, and as a user of Car2Go, I can testify to its awesomeness.
