Friends of Dorothy, ASSEMBLE!

Break out the rainbow flags, betches, because this year marks the 25th anniversary of Austin Pride. In honor of Austin’s quarter of a lifetime achievement, special festivities will run throughout the whole week. Think "Quarter Quell" without the blood sports and Jennifer Lawrence.

Starting August 22 with the WERK Fashion Show featuring designers from Project Runway, Austin Pride runs through the week, wrapping up on August 29 with the big gay family reunion, Austin PRIDE Festival (11am-6pm) and Parade (8pm-11pm).

In preparation of the big week, Kelly Kline will be hosting Mr. and Miss Austin PRIDE Pageant on June 3 OCH. Join the celebration as two lucky titleholders strut for the chance to represent our community at the festival in August. Think you’ve got what it takes? Strap on some heels and grab a scrunchie because categories will include: Solo Talent, Pride Swimwear, 80’s Evening Wear, and Question & Answer. Contestants may register now to participate.

This year’s program boasts special performances by Raven of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and proceeds from Austin Pride will go to Austin Pride Cares.

Purchase your tickets for Pride before June 1 for discounted prices of $15 and $100 VIP. Dilly-dally too long and you’ll pay $17 and $125. Wait ’til the last minute, and you’ll pay the price of $20 at the door, same as last year. Keep your ears cocked and your eyes peeled for the announcement of the full line-up of talent performing at this year's festival. Schedule of events is subject to change, so join the event on Facebook to get the latest updates.

And remember, Dorothy, there’s no place like Austin.
