Light up the cigars and practice your deepest grrrowl of approval for the first ever Mr. Leather Bear Austin. This year, two communities – decadent leather lovers and Austin bears – begin a new tradition by presenting the burliest leather bear.
The Iron Bear hosts the two-night extravaganza, first with a meet-and-greet, a 50/50 raffle, and silent auction on Friday, April 17, 9pm, benefiting Project Transitions, Inc..
Then check out the stiff pageant lineup on Saturday night as sexy leather bears boast, grunt, and scratch their way to the top. Entertainment will be provided by the gorgeous gals of Doubledown Dixie, the musical stylings of toshio alan mana, and the Highland's hostess with the mostess Christi Van Cartier.
Be sure to bring some extra dough for shopping, as Durbin Industrial, Dragonfly-Leather-Works, and OTTER INK will also be set up to outfit. But wait, there’s more! Ladies and admirers are encouraged to join the fun, as Austin Girls of Leather will be there too.
Former Mr. Austin Leather, Peter D. Reid will head the panel of judges, grading contestants on the traditional Miss America model, emphasizing communication skills, personality & attitude, physique, and talent.
Not only will the winner have the honor of representing Mr. Leather Bear Austin 2015, but the opportunity to represent the title at three fundraisers throughout the course of their reign. Plus, the gig comes equipped with a fashionable leather sash, medallion, $100 cash, and a travel fund that will allow Sir bear to strut said stuff across the great state of Texas.
If you’re claws aren’t yet fully engaged, shine up your boots and crack those whips to make Austin a bear-y fine place.
