Volunteer Blow-OUT

By Blake McCoy, January 27, 2015, 11:55am, Qmmunity

The timer is set and the countdown is ticking, as QueerBomb! announces their first fully open meeting to solicit and discuss plans for 2015. And like a stack of queer dominoes, other happenings are lining up to drum up support and solicit input as well.

Austin’s 2015 year of queer is shaping up to be more inclusive than ever. Regular planning meetings will kick off with a pot-luck, this Sun., Feb. 1 at the Chain Drive. The potluck and subsequent planning meetings are open to anyone and everyone who want to help make QueerBomb! 2015 the queerest Austin has seen yet. First on the agenda: LOVEBOMB!, QueerBomb’s annual Valentine’s fundraiser that guarantees a blast that won’t blow-up your wallet.

While QueerBomb! has proven time and time again to be an explosive event beloved by so many under the rainbow, this year, the bomb has blown the door off the hinges as the crew reaches out to all of Austin.

The annual tradition of closing out SXSW Sunday with a big gay bang continues, as GayBiGayGay, too, is breaking with tradition and holding an open call for music, acts, performances, and of course, volunteers. So if you think you’ve got what it takes to put the gay in GayBiGayGay, now is the time to say hi, and send in all music/video links.

Don’t have an act, but still want to help queer up the joint? No worries: You can sponsor a porto-let. One measly hundo, and you and your gaggle of gays can paint a porto, or decorate it however you see fit. For all other volunteer and support inquiries, check the brand new GBGG website and volunteer page. This year's fest happens March 22, noon to midnight.

Additionally, Stargayzer (Fall, 2015) and OUTsider Film & Arts Festival (right around the corner, in February) are also looking to expand the whole famn damily. Festival season is here, so if you’re a performer or just want to volunteer, now is the time to submit all applications.
