Where the Girls Go/ATX: Summer Fun Edition

The best events to get queered and wild at this weekend

There's something about summer weekends that bring out the kid in all of us. From daytime adventuring to staying up and out late, everyone's a little bit younger, a little bit less serious in July. For the next three days indulge that inner child. Dance your QT heart out, swim like no one's watching, and fall for a grrrl with a guitar.

Friday: Tweens of the 90s rejoice because tonight GirlFriend, along with guest DJ Cap'n Tits are bringing us back to middle school. But this time, the dancing will be more epic than awkward, and singing along to the Backstreet Boys is now ironic – not lame (win!).

Suggestion: Middle school redux. Don't be a wallflower – ask her to dance.

Saturday: Bust out those bikinis and board shorts cuz GirlFriend is taking on a DJ double header and will be DJing the Equality Texas Pool Party all afternoon. Then towel off and head to North Door for an all lady line up. Krudas Cubensi opens, followed by Poon, and Stop Motion Orchestra.

Suggestion: Pick up Stop Motion Orchestra's new album, it's their release party after all.

Sunday: Because you can't never have too many girls with guitars, head over to Skylark and catch an awesome lineup of local lady singer/songwriters.

Suggestion: Don't forget that $5 cover.

Still need more options? Then check out the Gay Place. Otherwise, stay sweaty - errr, sexy.
