Where the Girls Go/ATX: Spring Fever

Spring fever has definitely hit Austin, TX. How do I know? Because my Facebook invites and Gay Place calendar updates have been non-stop. It seems as though everything is happening this weekend.

And it isn't even South by Southwest yet. But where will the grrrls be this weekend?

Everywhere, because it's Austin, but I'll bet you'll have the best luck with the ladies at these three events:

Tonight: It's safe to say everyone and then some will be at the Grand (re)Opening of Cheer Up Charlie's tonight. Only 972 people have RSVP'd via Facebook. Between the four-way DJ battle, and the disco-hipster-tastic Whiite Walls headlining you'll definitely want your dancing shoes on. I foresee many a DFM tonight. Totally.

Suggestion: Bring some extra cash. It's also Whiite Walls official EP release. Trust me, those beats are definitely as danceable from your living room.

Saturday: Spider House Standup. A lesbian raised by a Jewish mother. I could be talking about some of my best friends, but I'm actually referring to rather (in)famous touring comedian, Dana Goldberg. Not only is she "hot and hilarious," but as the Gay Place sez, "sexy and sardonic," Goldberg's very out status will mostly likely draw in a lez-centric crowd. Even Spider House GM Eva Mueller couldn't be more excited about the show. "I love that we can not only provide a great room for comedy, music, variety, and film, but also a fun environment for all to be welcomed and accepted. We are honored to have Dana in our venue."

Sunday: Check out Beth Schindler's Lesbian Wedding, a tea dance. What is a tea dance you ask? It's a daytime dance party that delivers the perfect excuse for day drinking. Pack in even more celebration at the inaugural event, because it's also a birthday celebration for Hazey Fairless. Brunch and drinks and dancing: oh my!

Suggestion: Don't let the fact that it's Sunday stop you. Who says Sunday's aren't made for dancing? Don't answer that.
