When Are We Supposed to Sleep?

Thursday's Mouthfeel at Cheer Up Charlie's shakes the midweek blues.

When Are We Supposed to Sleep?

Lately, I've been starting to feel a bit like Bill Hader's Stefon.

Cheer Up Charlie's has everything: A gymnastic Jesus. Hipster bouncy castles. Drunken yentas. Pixy porn 'staches. What's that? Oh, it's when a really cute lesbian wears a pink mustache that manages to be feminine but still somehow reminds you of John Holmes.

Unlike SNL's bit, I'm being fo' realzies, and the above-mentioned have actually graced the E. Austin hang out over the past month, courtesy of our good friends at Mouthfeel.

Last year around this time, we sang the praises of burgeoning night club Barbarella and her weekly queermo dance party TuezGayz. Giving the gays who didn't feel comfortable on Fourth Street an alternative seems to have been TheGlitoris' intention, and the spiritual inheritors have arrived.

Cheer Up's Mouthfeel offers a different type of event, though. Where TuezGayz's smashing dance party causes the ruin of many a productive Wednesday, Mouthfeel's outdoor patios and nearby food carts invite relaxation. TuezGayz feels like the most insane Saturday night inexplicably wedged in the middle of the week. Mouthfeel is the calm before the weekend storm, a chance to dance, relax, and listen to great DJs spin their wares.

If you haven't been, go. TuezGayz started off as a casual gathering, too, and this week's edition promises to be a royal mess.
