Unfortunately, but predictably, the senate made absolutely no progress on Don't Ask Don't Tell last Thursday, rejecting an attempt to bring the Defense Authorization bill to the floor. Crappy news, but fret not readers, hope is still alive despite this setback, thanks to two senators…
A new, stand-alone DADT repeal bill has been introduced by senators Joseph Lieberman, and Susan Collins, a Republican from Maine. There is even a chance that the bill could be voted on before the end of this lame-duck session, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Oh, and Prez Obama made a statement on the failed vote as well.
Remember when the UN narrowly passed an amendment that cuts a specific reference protecting the LGBT community? We first told you about it here a couple weeks ago. Anyway, U.S. Ambassador Susan E. Rice has promised to restore the language which protects gay folks back into the UN Resolution Condemning Extrajudicial, Summary, and Arbitrary Execution. Shake that, Ambass Susan! ;)
'Til next time, this is Rob asking and telling!
