We interrupt this post-holiday food coma with a close-to-home controversy brewing in Dallas.

Remember that lovely gay couple that used Skype to get married? If not, refresh your memories with our new blogger Katie Tomasino's recent post about them. Anyway, they tried to get their wedding announcement into the Dallas Morning News but were turned down. Apparently, the weddings section is off limits to same sex marriages. Not cool!

The Pentagon's much-awaited study into the implementation of a Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy repeal will be released tomorrow, November 30, before the Senate votes on the repeal during the impending lame-duck session of Congress. Though the study is not out yet, The Huffington Post reports that it is the Marines that have the biggest resistance to the repeal of DADT. (Hmmmmm, we know some Marines who have no problem asking, giving, and receiving… Don't tell!)

Thankfully, no gays were discharged from the military in the last month. The ongoing appeal to keep don't ask, don't tell on the books has not hindered some from re-enlisting. You can add flight nurse Maj. Margaret Witt to that list of brave LGBT who serve. She was discharged under DADT, but can now rejoin the Air Force Reserve. Go bayside!

The Southern Poverty Law Center has done some digging into an FBI report on hate crime stats released Monday, Nov. 22, to find that gays are more targeted than any other minority group.

In some more lighthearted news, looks like enough 'mo's spent their turkey hangovers with Cher and Xtina to give Cher her biggest opening weekend ever. May I never talk about Cher's big openings ever again!
