News AggreGAYte for the Week of Nov. 22

National and international gay news and links.

Lots of shizz going on this week: The UN doesn't care about gay people; Don't Ask, Don't Tell news; new bloggers; and lots more to catch up on. Let's commence.

For some ass backwards reason, the United Nations narrowly passed an amendment that cuts a specific reference protecting LGBT folks in a resolution that condemns executions. Outrageous! For more info, click here. Thanks a lot, Morocco and Mali!

Don't Ask, Don't Tell may see repeal by the end of the year, thanks to Prezident Obamz. Looks like there is plan in place after all. New blogger Katie Tomasino, goes deeper into the story here. That much-talked-about Pentagon report on DADT will be released Nov. 30.

Joshua Wilkerson of Pearland, TX was brutally beaten to death last week after he allegedly made a pass at his ride home. How can someone so young have so much hate in their heart? It's really sickening. Our hearts go out to Josh and his family.

Oh, Texas, it seems like one step forward, one step back with you. At least we have the occasional forward, and this week's is forward. Phyllis Frye, Houston's first transgender judge ever was appointed Wednesday. Can I get a hell yeah?!

Graeme Taylor, that precocious, extremely intelligent 14-year-old who spoke out when his teacher was being punished for standing up against bigotry, hit Ellen this week. This kid already had a bright future ahead. Thanks to Ellen it's guaranteed.

That's all for now. Have a great week! ’Til next time this is Rob keeping a queer ear to the sky.
