3...2...1... GLITTER!
Austin bloggers come out queer for QueerBomb.

The magical interwebz, that collection of tubes (and no, I'm not talking about a lesbian plumber convention *ba-dump-psh!*), that glistening information super highway. It's buzzing. It's ripe for explosion. It's orgasming for QueerBomb.
It's hard to stop at one of our local coffeehouses and not see some dude or chiquita tip-tap-typing away on their laptop; posting something on their blog.
It's true. Our city has a lot of them. You're even reading one RIGHT NOW. And delineating between the good and the bad can be difficult. If it's an events or entertainment blog, one simple rule of thumb is "do they actually know what's going on in town?"
These blogs do. Often, they're even the ones making those events happen. And they're all pointing their knowing digital fingers at QueerBomb.
Austin Eavesdropper's "It's OK To Be Me (Even if I'm a Drag Queen)" - Tolly, that girl around town, provides a Straight Ally's perspective on the big QB. And I think we should be allies of any straight-identified friend who writes:
"You're laughing because you begin to see what a made-up thing gender is, where hormones and nature-bequeathed DNA strands stop, and social constructions take over."
Republic of Austin's "Will a Queer Bomb Destroy Austin in 2010?" - Chris of RoA is sort of the queer Kerouac Austin's blogosphere pushes to prominence. His take is personal but political. Preach on, brotha:
"Every family has a black sheep, but a family sticks together [...] Until gays can accept all members of the community, how can they expect others to do so?"
Sleeping With Strangers - If you're on Twitter and don't follow @atxhipsters, do it now. That feed is like the Dial-A-Song of nightlife events and commentary. The person-behind-the-feed's (or as I like to call him/her, "The Phantom of the Barbarella") blog has the deets for the rally and shindigs.
The Angeliska Gazette's "QueerBomb!" - Organizer of (hands&pants-down the best monthly dance party has going) AZZ Everywhere's remarks on what a Gay Pride rally SHOULD be. Regarding scenes from San Fran Prides of old:
It was glorious! I was electrified by the sight of queens, leather-boys and dykes all prancing and dancing in the streets, undulating with boas on fabulous floats and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence making a scene in nun’s habits and giant schlongs! Never had I felt such a burning desire to be instantly transported through a television set, and into another reality. I had found my people, and my kind of action.
There you have it. I'm sure more blogs will be coming with updates later today and I'll try to get them up.
Let me say a few things, on my own accord. I know this isn't just a party. Who doesn't? Of course this is a call to action. QueerBomb won't be for one year, either. It's the beginning. Pride and QueerBomb should exist harmoniously. And you better believe I'll be drinking (a lot) to that tonight.
That being said, you've heard about buzz, right? Tonight's festivities have them. You'd be crazy not to join. It's Friday, you've had a hard week and it's our weekend. Straight, gay, trans, bi, intersexed, or any other letter you identify with, be at the ND tonight. That place will be flaming.
