This weekend's Houston Splash is already a flood of color in Bayou City with boy and girl events happening all over Montrose/Westheimer and beyond.
I am beside myself that I cannot get down to Galveston on Sunday to partake in my absolute, all-time favorite Pride event: Beach Party!
Yes, babies. Galveston is back. And this weekend in black for one the friendliest, craziest sand gatherings to kiss the surf. Sadly, due to Hurricane Ike, East Beach is still closed. So this year's festivities will happen on Stewart Beach. Which is interesting because it is dry. As in: No alcohol. Hmmmmmm. OK.
Someday, dear readers, I will share with you a magnificent photo essay of the outfits of Beach Party 2004. Oh. My. Goodness. Two queens in exactly the same crocheted body suit, one black, one white. Families and crews in matching airbrushed oversized shirts made custom for the occasion. Teams-worth of gangs in Throwbacks. Teeeeeeeny teeny obsceney bikinis! Body paint doubling for bikinis.
Sigh.
Until I can dig up those files, enjoy the galleries on the official Splash site marked Eye Candy. And if you can make the roadtrip, add your sweet booty to the mix.
