Republican San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders has been wrestling under the weight of a recent bill challenging California's gay marriage ban. In a news conference he condemned the "separate but equal" approach to gay marriage (read: civil unions, domestic partnerships).
Inherently unequal! Woooooooo! Thanks for calling it out, Jer! (When do we ever hear politicians calling it what it is?) He states one of the reasons why he is now in support of gay marriage is his very own daughter Lisa, who is, surprise, a frequent visitor to the Isle of Lesbos.
What a great idea! How about a "Spend a Year With a Lesbian Daughter" requirement for every Republican and Democrat in office? Especially the two leading democratic candidates. We gots to catch them up
It could be a nonprofit org (SAYWALD even sounds gay); all we need is funding, a few really great TV ads (see Levi's ad post below), and lesbians and transwomen self-identified as lesbians who don't mind spending a year of their time going to fundraising dinners and press junkets. Sheah, right.
WHO'S IN?!?!?!? Hey guys
guys? GUYS
?
See Jerry Sanders' remarks in full.
And for those concerned that the mayor's outing of his daughter might have been without her consent and/or some sort of political ploy, Pam's Blend has a quote from Lisa Sanders herself.
