We call our roommate St. Francis for her undying love of and selfless care for all manner of beast. In addition to marrying our cat and tending to baby turtles in the Chronicle atrium, roomie heps us to curious happenings in the Animal Kingdom – usually in the form of shelter adoption e-missives or funny, fluffy, furry Internet stories.
…Not the least of which is this fabulous, heartwarming tale of gender dysphoria in the mini-equine realm about a wee Shetland named Tootsie.
