No votes, but feedback please!

Hi everyone, this is a communal post from Christine and Ingrid and first, this post will ask you to NOT vote for either of us. However,we ARE seeking your help.

To put it in very brief terms; we are seeking to set up a non-profit to provide some form of support to returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. We realize, there are many ways to do so, but we want to make sure that what we would offer would be both practical and manageable for veterans going through their reintegration process into civilian life.

For now, we are asking anyone who is either a veteran, married to one, knows a family member who is, or someone who would be interested to participate in this non-profit to email us regarding the following.

For veterans; what are your needs that you have not been supported in by the VA or DoD upon your return? This need could be in terms of finances, mental health support for combat-related ptsd, family support of any kind, you name it. We are trying to identify what veterans in the Austin area, and most likely in Texas-at-large are in need of.

For family members; what exactly could have helped you and your spouse upon his return? Don’t be too shy to be 'too' specific. If you wished you could have had a babysitter so you could have gone out on dates in order to re-connect with each other, mention that. Anything that might seem mundane can still be something very practical! Family support is also very important in the process of reintegration.

For those who are interested in supporting returning veterans; we will be a non-religious, non-partisan organization. Our desire to help veterans does not stem from any ulterior agenda. We are therefore not interested in any volunteer work that comes with strings attached that serve religious or partisan agendas. The volunteers we are seeking at this point are in the areas of;

Research; potential board members; lawyer; veterans who have re-adjusted or veterans from previous conflicts with experience to share; public relations.

For more information, please go to For emailing us go to Please put in the subject heading; veteran feedback; family feedback; volunteer offer.
