Campus Carry Passes, Abortion Insurance Ban Fails
Earlier this session, a gun control activist told me, if legislative Republicans wanted to pass Senate Bill 11's campus carry rules, they "have to put some lipstick on that pig." How Much Will Texas Spend?
It's arguably best that the joint House and Senate Budget Conference Committee does most of its work behind closed doors. After all, with 10 chefs, no one needs to see how that sausage is made. Bonus Bill of the Week: Mandatory Gun Shows
The 84th Legislature has seen ceaseless attacks on local control, from fracking to red light cameras. But the latest would force local convention centers to give sweetheart deals to gun shows, and the gun lobby seems hellbent on pushing this through as quickly and stealthily as possible.
