Central Health – the county’s health care district currently embroiled in a legal battle with massive hospital nonprofit Ascension Seton – will get a new appointment to its Board of Managers next year.
The Travis County Commissioners Court has released a set of qualifications desired for the three-year position. The deadline to apply is October 13, 5pm.
Direct health care experience is not a requirement, but understanding the health care system is. The person should have senior management level experience, whether on boards, in community leadership positions, or strategic planning committees, and an understanding of budgeting, the financial mechanisms used in a public health care delivery system such as Central Health, and the health disparities of marginalized populations in the county. The call for applications reads: “The Court is looking for individuals who will represent the interests of the County as a whole, as well as supply exceptional vision, business and administrative skills, and commitment.”
