Live From Your Kitchen Table, It's the 2020 #TribFest

By Mike Clark-Madison, May 1, 2020, 11:32am, Newsdesk

The Texas Tribune announced today (Friday, May 1) that the 2020 edition of its annual Texas Tribune Festival – which has become a top-tier destination for politicos and thought leaders, especially in election years – will not take over the streets of Downtown this September.

You know why, of course – the uncertainty about how things will be this fall during the recovery from, or the return of, the COVID-19 outbreak. "The inability to predict an end to the pandemic and a return to something that resembles normal has required us to make what we believe is the absolute right decision about #TribFest2020: We’re taking it virtual," wrote Tribune President and CEO Evan Smith in an announcement to supporters. "Same time frame, same grand vision and meticulous execution, only digital."

Smith set June 1 as the new launch date to reveal the 2020 program and kick off ticket sales for the virtual TribFest, which he promises will knock your socks off. "It’s going to be amazing. We’re energized by the possibilities of a virtual ideas festival – and especially by the opportunity to do what The Texas Tribune has always done: innovate, and lead by example.
