On Monday, Mayor Steve Adler announced his City Council committee appointments, which are subject to Council approval this Thursday (Feb. 12). Check here to see if your guesses were confirmed.

Since a few Council members are already issuing press releases announcing their appointments to “important” or even “critical” committees – just like Texas House members anointed by Speaker Joe Straus – it’s unlikely that the appointments will engender much pushback on the dais. (As far as Newsdesk can recall, this is the first time that Council committee appointments generated any press releases at all, but it’s a new 10-1 day.) With the exception of Austin Energy oversight – a committee of the whole with Council Member Sheri Gallo (D10) as chair, Leslie Pool (D7) as vice chair – committees will have four members, and each CM will serve as a chair and a vice chair.

There are also mayoral appointments to a couple of dozen intergovernmental committees, listed below the internal Council assignments.
