New show with Mobile Loaves to raise money for homeless artists

What worth has art if it doesn't improve the world? That's a question Mondo Gallery is answering by coming together with charity Mobile Loaves and Fishes for a new show featuring 40 works from artists in Austin's homeless community.

The works on display will come from the Art House program, where the homeless charity provides food, laundry and shower facilities, and, most importantly, studio space in a trailer to work on their creativity. It's that art that will be on display and on sale at the show, with all sales benefiting the artists.

Alamo Drafthouse CEO and founding force behind Mondo Tim League is a major advocate for Mobile Loaves, and has already committed to provide employment to residents of their planned Sunshine RV Park with a drive-in and B&B. He said, "When we first met the artists from the Mobile Loaves and Fishes Art House project we saw a fantastic array of styles and an abundance of unique creative expression. For this gallery show we challenged these artists to share their interpretations of the movies that inspire them. We are thrilled with the results and think you will be too."
