City announces veterans parade and job fair
By Monica Riese, 3:33PM, Thu. May 31, 2012
The city of Austin today announced plans for a Welcome Home Iraq Veterans Parade and Job Resource Fair later this summer.
The event – which, as the name implies, will include a parade along Congress Avenue and a job fair at the Capitol – is co-sponsored by the Welcome Home Iraq Veterans Committee.
This announcement comes three days after Memorial Day, and the event is planned for Saturday, July 7. Meanwhile, Austinites can sign up to volunteer at www.welcomehomeiraqveterans.org or start collecting donations to bring, including letters and nonperishable goods.
