Last Day of Early Voting
Turnout still low for May 12 council election
By Richard Whittaker, 8:00AM, Tue. May 8, 2012

Early voting closes in the City of Austin elections today. Turnout is still depressingly low, with Travis County reporting only 3.6% of registered voters making it to the polls so far.
The one piece of bright news there is that's already up from early voting in the 2008 mayoral election, which peaked at 3.58%.
However, this is an important election, and you can still beat Saturday's rush by voting any time until 6pm tonight. Don't forget, there are several stores that are hosting polling stations, including a bunch of Randalls, plus both Fiesta Marts, and the H-E-B on South Congress. So you can vote and pick up groceries in one trip.
And don't forget: During early voting, you can vote at any polling location.
