MEALS ON WHEELS AND MORE OPEN TODAY, CLIENTS IN NEED OF BLANKETS AND HEATERS

AUSTIN – Meals on Wheels and More is open today and conducting meal delivery as usual.

However, our social workers are busy calling all of our high-risk clients to check in on their needs, and we are asking for donations of blankets and heaters from the community. We currently have none available and expect that many clients will need assistance staying warm through this cold spell.

Those interested in and able to donate these items can drop them off at our Central Kitchen Headquarters at 3227 East 5th Street in Austin. For more information about making these donations, you can also call us at 476-6325 or email sbautista@mealsonwheelsandmore.org.

We plan to remain open for service this week unless inclement weather or another emergency occurs making it impossible or dangerous to do so.

In the event of a closure, volunteers and clients will be notified through a number of channels. Any information about possible closures will be available on our phone system at 476-6325 and posted on our website at www.mealsonwheelsandmore.org. Volunteers will be kept up to date via email. We will also update the local media outlets, as well as our Facebook and Twitter feeds.
