See You Friday, Bill
Houston mayor to make announcement on switching primaries Friday
By Richard Whittaker, 6:00PM, Wed. Dec. 2, 2009
Well, he said it would be around the fourth: Houston Mayor Bill White has announced that he will be sharing his decision about switching from the Democratic Senate primary to the governor's race in Houston on Friday at 12pm.
This fresh from his campaign:
After listening to Texans from all backgrounds and all regions, Mayor Bill White, candidate for U.S. Senate, said last week he would consider running for Governor and would make a decision by Friday, December 4. Since he made this statement, thousands of Texans have emailed, messaged, called, and tweeted at Mayor White to weigh in on how he can best serve our state. Selections from those statements are available at www.billwhitefortexas.com. On Friday he will announce his decision. Now that doesn't mean he's jumped yet, but the expectation is that he'll do so. He's sat on a pretty serious federal war chest (most of which can be transferred to a state race) plus a chunk o' change in his mayoral coffers. The GOP has already launched a non-specific attack ad of the "Argh! He's a trial attorney! Flee, flee!" school, so unless he pulls a Dan Gattis, they'll get use out of that either way.
