CAMPO Seeks Input Tonight

Tonight at Akins High School, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization has organized a public meeting to discuss a proposed change in policy that would allow one toll road - 183A – to financially "backstop" another - the Manor Expressway on US 290.

An open house with the chance to view presentation materials will occur from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, followed by a presentation on the proposal from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Public comments will be taken after the presentation.

County Commissioner Sarah Eckhardt and others called for public input into the proposal. Eckhard has expressed concerns that this change, and precedent, could work against a regional, comprehensive approach to funding all forms of transportation. One problem: If future toll road excess revenues are kept only within the toll road system, they will not be available for projects such as pedestrian, bike, and transit improvements.

CAMPO Seeks Input on 183A and US 290 East Financial System The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, together with the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, is seeking the public’s input on creating a financial system comprised of 183A and a portion of US 290 East. All of the evening meetings will consist of an open house, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, and a presentation on the proposal from 6:30 to 7:30 pm; public comments will be taken after the presentation.

Three remaining opportunities exist for the public to comment on the proposal: November 6th at Akins High School in South Austin, and November 12th and 13th at Bluebonnet Trail Elementary School in East Austin.
