Texas Democratic Party Chairman Boyd Richie roused the Texas Young Democrats’ caucus meeting at the TDP state convention this morning. An quick excerpt:

“This race for president, this race for state senate, for the United States Senate, for party chair – this is not about any of us. It is about you. Folks, when you look around and understand what the Republicans are doing … when Republicans are out there and their only issue coming back into this next legislative session is worrying about voter ID bills, it makes me sick to my stomach. Because I want to tell you something: It is a sin and a shame that we have children in this state who cannot go access to health care. It is a sin and a shame that we’ve got families working at two and three jobs who cannot afford to send their kids to college because tuition has gone up 122% since it was deregulated. It is a sin and a shame that we’re paying $4 a gallon for gasoline and $5 a gallon for diesel for folks to try to fill up their car to get to a minimum wage job that has no benefits. It is a sin and a shame that all of you all are going to paying for a damnable war that never should have been started in the first place.”
