Follow the Excitement of the Texas Democratic Party Convention!
Donkeys from around the state converge on the blue island.

There are Democrats of every shape, size, and color running amok in the Austin Convention Center at this hour. They're currently having caucus meetings to push certain issues to the floor. One curiosity we noticed: The Gun Owners Caucus and the East Texas Democrats had conflicting meeting times in different rooms. Wouldn't it have been more efficient to just consolidate those meetings?
The other big highlight: I just paid $3 for a taco worth about a nickel. Seriously: Couldn't the Convention Center have contracted with Tamale House instead?
If you won't be down here yourself, come back throughout today and Saturday: Richard Whittaker and I will be down here bringing you the sights and smells and juicy gossip. It'll be like Stephen Moser's column but with politics.
UPDATE: Okay, the potato and egg taco was worth a nickel, but the bacon and egg is far worse. They should be paying me to eat this.
