Dems: Do Not Disturb
Travis County Democratic Party takes day off, leaves nice message
By Richard Whittaker, 4:01PM, Mon. Mar. 31, 2008
Normally when a journalist cannot get hold of a spokesperson from a political party for a statement, it leads to bitter mumbling under the breath. But when Travis County Democratic Party Executive Director Elizabeth Yevich leaves an answering machine message like the one currently awaiting callers, it's hard to complain.
"Thank you for calling the Travis County Democratic Party. I apologize in advance for my hoarse voice. Today is Monday March 31, and the office will be closed while TCDP's two full-time and two part-time staff recuperate from planning and putting on what is no doubt the largest Democratic county convention that was ever held not only in Travis but within the state of Texas.
If you attended, we hope you enjoyed your convention experience and look forward to having you stay involved in your local Democratic party. The office will re-open at 9am on Tuesday. Thank you for calling."
