Seriously, You Need to Go Vote NOW

By Lee Nichols, March 4, 2008, 5:20pm, Newsdesk

The polls close in less than two hours, and lines have formed. Long lines. I did a check of a few precincts:

• At pct. 136 (Ridgetop Elementary, 5005 Caswell), 596 people had voted as of 3:30pm. And when I checked at 4:27pm, there were 50 people in a line going out the door. And after I left, I realized – I didn't even check to see how many people were inside.

• A few minutes later at my pct. 242 (Austin Bible Church, 7500 Woodrow), I spotted about 10 people waiting outside the door. This time I thought to check inside the building, and my jaw dropped open when I peeked in – there were at least 100 people waiting to vote! As of 3:30pm, 669 had voted.

• As of 3:30pm, 337 had voted at Pct. 145 (Red River Church, 4425 Red River.

If you aren't sure what to do, see my primer from earlier this morning. Whatever you do, don't let the wait discourage you from voting!
