Obama and Clinton to Debate in Austin

Clinton and Obama to debate in Austin.

Breaking news: Democratic presidential hopefuls Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama will be holding a debate in Austin on Feb. 21. No further details on locations available as yet.

This statement came from Texas Democratic Party Chair Boyd Richie:

"Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama have agreed to participate in a Texas debate that will be broadcast nationally by CNN from Austin, Texas on February 21, 2008 at 7:00 pm (CST). The Univision Network will also air the debate in Spanish beginning at 10:30 p.m. (CST)."

An energized Texas Democratic Party will join CNN as a sponsor of the debate at a time Texas Democrats will play an important role in selecting our next President in our March 4th Primary Election and Precinct conventions.

Texas Democrats, as well as independents and even a few Republicans, have been motivated by the appeals our two highly qualified candidates have made to voters, and our 2008 primary may very well generate a record turnout of Texans who are eager for new leadership in the White House.

At time when so many people have lost faith in our government as a result of the failed Republican policies of the Bush administration, Senator Clinton and Senator Obama are offering voters an opportunity to choose a Democratic nominee who will provide the change that Texans and Americans desperately need. Once this primary is over, Democrats will be united behind our nominee and ready for victory come November."
