Why Fred Went

Rep. Hill explains why he's not running for the lege again.

With the announcement last week that Rep. Fred Hill, R-Richardson, would not be seeking re-election in November 2008, there's been some serious discussion as to why he would be quitting the lege upon which he has made such an impact. The answer?

"I've been there 20 years," Hill told Chronic. "This summer I sold the business that I've had for 35 years, and it's changed the way I look at my life. I knew it would, but I didn't expect it to change so much. And I thought, 20 years is an appropriate amount of time."

Any regrets or unfinished business? "There's always things that could be done, but whether I'd stayed another two years or another 20, that would have been true."
