Goddamn it, if we get one more press release trumpeting the Great Texas Warrant Roundup, I'm gonna grab the AK and start spraying my own reasons to get hauled in.

Suffice to say, if you get a call in the next two weeks saying you've won a fabulous prize, won't you please come pick it up Downtown, don't go. Why not just hole up in a hotel until the whole thing blows over? Or, as the po-po says, pay up to "avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest at home or at work in front of family, friends, or co-workers." We hate it when that happens.

The Great Texas Warrant Roundup begins March 3

Law enforcement agencies and courts from more than 150 jurisdictions across Texas announced today, Feb. 16, that they will combine forces in The Great Texas Warrant Roundup beginning Saturday, March 3, 2007.

The multi-jurisdictional warrant roundup, believed to be the largest joint ever of this type, will continue for several days. Arrests will focus on persons with warrants from all of the 150 participating jurisdictions.

The participating jurisdictions include all of the largest Texas metropolitan areas, from the Metroplex to Austin to San Antonio to Corpus Christi, and from El Paso to Houston, along with numerous counties, justices of the peace and municipalities of all sizes.

Hundreds of thousands of notices have been mailed statewide by participating entities during the past few days to persons with warrants active against them. Although the concentration is on Class C charges, which include traffic, criminal parking, penal code and city ordinance violations, higher charge warrants will also be served.

Affected persons are urged to contact the appropriate jurisdiction or jurisdictions during the next two weeks to dispose of their cases voluntarily to avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest at home or at work in front of family, friends or co-workers.
