SXSW just announced their lineup of free events, which includes a three-day music festival at their SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake March 17-19. Gates open at 4pm each day.
The first day features a lineup of local faves, presented by Spaceflight Records, including Trail of Dead between a sandwich of Croy & the Boys, Kalu & the Electric Joint and Heartless Bastards. Headlining the evening is the psychedlic afrobeat extravaganza Golden Dawn Arkestra.
Friday focuses on the rawk with bands from across the country and beyond. Headliner Sammy Hagar brings his band to implore that you not drive 55 m.p.h. Opening for them is Monterrey, Mexico's trio of sisters, the Warning.
Saturday's lineup isn't nailed down yet, but we do know that Philly indie rockers Mt. Joy will close down the concert series.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (made more efficient by signing up for a CLEAR Health Pass) or a negative test taken within 72 hours of entry (free at SXSW testing centers) is required to attend all SXSW events. Visit sxsw.com for more information.
