In the hilarious – and strangely authentic – new video for “I Deserve Success,” Austin’s Golden Dawn Arkestra adopt the aesthetic of early Nineties cable-access self-help gurus, peddling materials that will surely improve your life.
The culty clip, directed by Ben Blanchard, puts a creative spin on the band’s uplifting single. Following May’s “Phenomenal,” GDA continues to lean into a synth-kissed psychedelic pop sound that gently veers from their intergalactic Afrobeat roots. Produced by Walker Lukens, the vocally dynamic “I Deserve Success” incorporates bandleader Topaz McGarrigle’s soft-spoken lead with layered backup singing and a stand-out rap feature from bandmate Nnedi Nebula Agbaroji.
