Thursday morning, ACL Festival announced new entry requirements for the major event, coming to Zilker Park October 1-3 and 8-10. Attendees must show a completed vaccination card or a printed copy of a negative COVID-19 test result obtained within 72 hours. As for masking up, the announcement added:

“Information related to masks will be released closer to the festival dates.”

Local ACL promoters C3 Presents, also behind Chicago’s Lollapalooza, set similar safety requirements at the Illinois music festival last month. In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott's executive orders have complicated discussions over whether events can require masks and proof of vaccination. While Downtown’s ACL Live at the Moody Theater has rolled out requirements for vaccination cards or negative tests at the request of performers, other businesses have faced threats from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission for enforcing safety protocols.

ACL Fest also rolled out daily schedules for both weekends, including new headliners Tyler the Creator and Duran Duran for both Sundays. Tyler replaces DaBaby, dropped from the fest earlier this month due to homophobic comments. Duran Duran subs in for Stevie Nicks, who canceled multiple shows over COVID-19 concerns last week.
