Watch: Chief White Lightning’s Donut Shop Daydream
It’s love at first sight in their new video – but the feeling’s not mutual

In the new video for “Don’t Do That,” Chief White Lightning shows his sweet tooth for a bored and beautiful donut shop clerk. Hearts colliding across the counter, the rocker whisks the glazed babe away from her fried-food purgatory off to a romantic picnic. The only problem? It’s all in his head.
The third single from his eponymous debut finds the musical persona of Josh Logan sprinkling an oldies melody with love-note lyricism. The clever clip, directed by Michael Anthony Gibson, stars actress Laura McNairy – assistant editor of socially progressive skin mag Peach Fuzz – alongside the singer/guitarist. The duo’s chemistry is on point, from their preposterous picnic to the abrupt moment of reality where McNairy smashes a confection into Logan’s face.
Chief White Lightning, who relocated back to Austin from Los Angeles 11 months ago, joins visiting garage-pop favorite Fletcher C. Johnson for a concert at Hotel Vegas on Wednesday – a bill that also features Loteria and Plastique. Chief’s donut shop fantasy premieres here:
