Jason Isbell Headlines Old Settler’s 2019

Old Settler’s Music Festival has rolled out the initial lineup for its 32nd annual campout, taking place April 11-14 in Tilmon. An intimate acoustic performance from Americana pacesetters Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit provides a marquee attraction.

Also on board for next year’s folk festival are singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile, bluegrass legend Del McCoury, and Tex-Mex supergroup Los Legends, featuring Flaco Jiménez, Augie Meyers, and Rick Trevino.

The lineup unveiling comes at the same time as news that OSMF is partnering with regional concert promotor Kessler Presents, which operates Dallas’ Kessler Theater and the Heights Theater in Houston. This summer, the popular event experienced financial duress after relocating from its longtime home in Driftwood following discord with owners of the Salt Lick Pavilion, who tried to replace them with a competing roots music festival organized by former OSMF employees. Old Settler’s has fundraised over $90,000 from patrons since then.

A staple sorely missed at the April iteration, Shinyribs will give two performances at the 2019 gathering. Other homegrown artists on the bill include Hayes Carll, Wild Child, Wood & Wire, Paul Cauthen, Penny & Sparrow, and Jeff Plankenhorn.

Jam-funk outfit Galactic, Tulsa-born charmer John Moreland, British R&B showmen the James Hunter Six, enchanting songwriter and guitarist Robert Ellis, and folk duo Mandolin Orange round out the early bill announcement, which includes Paul Thorn, Steeldrivers, Last Bandoleros, Feeding Leroy, Sarah Grace & the Soul, and old-timey pair Ben Hunter & Joe Seamons.

Tickets for Old Settler’s Music Fest 2019 are on sale now.
