With the addition of 21 acts, including Oteil & Friends, Leftover Salmon, and Easy Star All-Stars, Waterloo Music Festival organizers have doubled down on the new gathering’s jam scene appeal.
Austin’s newest music fest, set for Sept. 7-9 at Carson Creek Ranch, materialized early last month with the promise of three nights of String Cheese Incident and the Texas debut of Joe Russo’s Grateful Dead tribute Almost Dead, which promotors tell “Playback” prompted strong pre-sale numbers. Fans of the former will be equally enthused for Oteil Burbridge, the prodigious bassist known for his work in Aquarium Rescue Unit, as well as late models of the Allman Brothers Band and Dead & Company. The two-time Grammy winner will be playing alongside fellow Dead-affiliates Jeff Chimenti, John Kadlecek, and Jay Lane.
Beyond jamgrass veterans Leftover Salmon and Easy Star All-Stars, who’ll be performing their irie Pink Floyd spin Dub Side of the Moon, WMF’s second wave washes up a strong wave of locals including Kalu & the Electric Joint, Los Coast, Hard Proof, Big Wy’s Brass Band, Deadeye, Sour Bridges, and the debut of Austin Groove Project, a supersquad featuring Jackie Venson, Tameca Jones, Alesia Lani, the Peterson Brothers, D Madness, and John Keyz.
Tickets for the three-day campout are on sale now. General three-day passes are $119 with VIP and camping options also available.
