Here’s my semi-annual mix of fave songs from the past 12 months. It starts off kind of freaky, but ends up in roots-rock heaven. True to this column’s name, there’s a few musical veterans included: Dale Watson, Jim Lauderdale, Marty Stuart, and Marcia Ball, but Jason Eady, Sunny Sweeney, the Mastersons, Kat Edmonson, and Israel Nash will be new names to some.
It’s some 75 minutes and you can download it here.
For a complete look at 2014, check out my first mix from July, with St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Erin Ivey, Johnny Cash, and Phil & Dave Alvin. That’s also available for download.
In 2015, keep an ear open for new music from James McMurtry, Robert Earl Keen, JD McPherson, Steve Earle, Gurf Morlix, Asleep at the Wheel, Allison Moorer, and Jorma Kaukonen. As always, thanks for reading. Happy New Year.
