Housecore Horror Music Schedule
Full line-ups, plus one-day music passes available now

It’s still nearly three months until Housecore Horror, the new fusion horror film/heavy metal festival from the twisted mind of Phil Anselmo, comes ripping, but Austin’s newest gathering of dark minds just unleashed its full music schedule.
In June, festival co-founder Cory Mitchell announced costumed maniacs GWAR, NOLA sludgers Down, Anselmo’s new project Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals, and Italian soundtrack masters Goblin would be headlining. Now we can break down the details.
On Thursday, Oct. 24, before the festival proper, there will be a pre-show soundtrack to badge pickup at the Dirty Dog Bar on Sixth Street: Lansing, MI., sludge-metal-punk psychics Cavalcade, hot off Anselmo’s Housecore label. Then the action moves to HH central, the Antone’s/Emo’s complex on East Riverside. Metal will be roosting like bats at the former during the day, before stampeding into the latter come sundown of all three festival days. Plus there’s a bonus over at the Buzz Mill, with the Melvins-approved Honky headlining the coffee joint on Saturday.
There’s some bad news: Previously, Mitchell was excited to make Suffocation, complete with original vocalist Frank Mullen, a late addition to the bill. Unfortunately, they’ve dropped out. Filling that void and Saturday’s slot at Antone’s will be Florida death metallers Hate Eternal.
And don’t forget: This is just the music side. There are still a lot of films to be announced, joining special screenings by Brazilian horror pioneer Coffin Joe, German boundary-pusher Jörg Buttgereit (Nekromantik, Schramm), and American underground horror master Jim VanBebber (The Manson Family).
Housecore Horror runs Oct. 24-27. More info at www.housecorehorrorfilmfestival.com and Facebook. Three-day passes for both film and music, and film or music, depending on your tastes, are available now, but with the lineup out, there are also single day music passes on sale. Here’s the full lineup:
