Rodeo Austin 2013 Music Line-Up
Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo ropes in more March madness
By Raoul Hernandez, 8:07AM, Fri. Jan. 4, 2013

Last year, SXSW Sunday, my dates to the Shins’ Austin City Limits taping cooled their heels while I was uptown at the Rodeo for Glenn Campbell. The Rhinestone Cowboy returned to the Long Center, but maybe sheer perversity’s to blame for forcing the top dogs at The New York Times and Rolling Stone to wait. This year’s line-up is better.
In 2011, the week after SXSW – the most brutal six weeks of my every year – the Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo roped me in three nights out of five. Admittedly, its home the Travis County Expo Center orbits close to my domicile, but it takes more than proximity and convenience to move the walking dead after March music madness here in Austin.
Here’s a sliver – I’m leaving out the bull riding, mutton bustin’, and whole state fair appeal – of what might prompt just such Lone Star loyalty: Rodeo Austin’s 2013 music grid. Tickets go onsale today, 10am.
